Who we are

getmy.house is run by GETMY.HOUSE LTD, a company registered in England and Wales, number 17495053. Registered office: Level One Basecamp, 49 Jamaica Street, Liverpool, L1 0AH. For the purposes of data protection law, we are the controller of anything this page describes.

No account, no cookies

There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to log in to. The site sets no cookies and uses no advertising or tracking services.

Your own browser remembers one small thing for the visit you are on — whether you closed the market news box — so it does not keep coming back. That stays in your browser, is forgotten when you close the tab, and is never sent to us.

Counting visits

To know how many people use the site and which parts of it are useful, our own server writes down each page that is opened: the kind of page, the postcode district (such as L15), the website that sent you there if any, roughly which town you are in, and whether it is a phone or a computer. The town is worked out on our own server from your internet address; nobody else is asked.

To count each person once a day, your internet address is turned into a scrambled code that cannot be turned back. Your internet address itself is not kept, and neither is the exact address of any home you look at. Each night, the finished day is added up into totals and the codes are deleted.

Estimates and rents have a daily limit for each person. To keep to it, your internet address is scrambled and counted for the day in the same way, then deleted. The answers themselves are kept for up to 60 days so the same question is not asked twice, with nothing that says who asked.

Now and then, to deal with a problem such as unwanted robots, the server keeps a log of the pages it is asked for, with internet addresses, for a day or two. It is then deleted.

Other companies your browser talks to

A few parts of a page — the lettering, the maps, and on a home’s page the street photo and the view from above — are loaded straight from the servers of the font and map services that provide them. Those services see your internet address the way any website you visit does, and their own privacy policies cover what they do with it.

When you ask for an estimate, rents or deals, our server asks a property data company about the home or the area — never about you.

Your rights

Because we keep nothing that says who you are, there is normally nothing of yours for us to show you or delete. If you think we hold something about you, write to us at GETMY.HOUSE LTD, Level One Basecamp, 49 Jamaica Street, Liverpool, L1 0AH, and we will look and reply.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled something, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
